The past few months have been incredibly challenging for the nation and indeed the world. The team at Turn2us continues to work hard to help individuals and families around the country who are facing unprecedented loss, hardship and great uncertainty.
Government support and national or even regional measures to control the pandemic change on an almost weekly basis which makes it even harder for you to know what your rights or entitlements are. With a second wave of the pandemic moving through the nation and a surge in redundancies, the dedicated team at Turn2us continues to provide up to date support and information for people struggling to get by.

Coronavirus: Changes in financial support
The shielding programme has ended. People are no longer entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) as even if they have been advised to shield.
As lockdown measures begin to be lowered, the conditions of government support schemes for workers are changing.

Pension Credit
Are you over State Pension age and struggling financially? Help may be available to you through Pension Credit.
Pension Credit is a means-tested benefit for people on a low income who have reached State Pension age. Currently, as many as 2 in 5 eligible older people are not claiming this benefit.

The cost of school uniforms, new shoes and stationery can add up quickly.
Many new items required to better protect children from catching or spreading Coronavirus are adding to that already significant cost.

Use the Turn2us grant search to find help
If your income has been badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic, help may be available to you from a charitable fund. This includes occupational funds that help people who work or have worked in occupations/industries badly affected by Covid-19. Some have set up specific coronavirus funds or may be able to help you with specific information and advice to help you cope at this difficult time.
An example is ABTA Lifeline - which helps people who work or have worked in the travel industry for ABTA members. As well as giving financial advice and grants, the charity has just launched a redeployment service with People 1st.
