Birdwatch Begins Here!
This month, Primary 4/5 will be taking part in the RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch 2026. Before beginning this programme, we wanted to encourage birds back into our school grounds after the recent cold spell. We made apple bird feeders to help provide food for the birds.
We used lots of skills during this activity. We tied string around the apple slices, carefully spread lard using a knife, and then covered them in bird seed. We completed all of these steps independently. Once finished, we hung the feeders in different places around the school grounds. We made sure to hang them high enough so that predators could not reach them and the birds would be safe.
