This week we explored the traditional Japanese technique of Tataki-zome, also known as plant pounding! Using leftover blackberries, leaves, grass, and a bit of hammering magic, we created stunning natural art.

We carefully arranged our foraged leaves and berries onto pieces of fabric, then used hammers to gently tap them—pressing the natural dyes right into the material. The result was a beautiful, nature-inspired print full of vibrant colours and textures from the forest. Each piece was unique, and the children loved seeing how the plants left behind their shapes and shades in this creative and hands-on way!
