P4B Forest School💣
As part of our World War Two topic, we took our learning outdoors to Forest School to explore what it might have been like to build an Anderson shelter. After learning how these shelters kept families safe during air raids, the children worked in small teams to create their own versions using tarpaulin, bamboo sticks, string and pegs.
Throughout the activity, the children used excellent problem-solving skills to overcome wobbly frames, tricky joins and balance issues, adapting their ideas as they went along.
Teamwork was a key part of the session. The children communicated clearly, shared roles and supported one another to make sure their shelters were safe and sturdy.
Once completed, we spent time talking about each shelter and how it was made. It was a fantastic hands-on session that brought our WW2 learning to life.
Hopefully they won’t blow away before next week!
