P4B Forest School 🔥
After spotting some bramble bushes last week, we decided to explore them further. The children learned how to safely identify brambles and pick the perfect blackberry – ripe, juicy, and just the right colour. Along the way, we also talked about how to forage respectfully and care for nature.
A big part of this session was learning about fire safety. We introduced the firepit and talked about the importance of staying outside the fire square. The children listened so well and showed great care around the fire area.
As a treat, we gently cooked the blackberries over the fire to make homemade blackberry jam. We watched as it bubbled away and filled the air with a delicious, fruity scent. Once ready, we tried it on some yummy muffins. There were thumbs up all around! 👍🧁
We were especially proud of the children who weren’t sure if they would like it but gave it a go anyway!
