Shared Education

There has been a history of collaboration between Howard Primary School and Edendork Primary School for more than twenty years, through a variety of programmes such as EMU, CRED and the Primary Curriculum Partnership Programme.(PCPP). In the 2014- 2015 school year the Department of Education announced new funding for the Shared Education Signature Project (SESP). Both schools were successful in their application.

During 2015-2016 we had two SESP partneships, P1 and P2 who participated in four shared lessons, developing mutual understanding and cross curricular skills through an age appropriate, topic based approach. This year this has increased to six shared lessons. Our third SECP partnership, P3 has now come on board and will focus on numeracy based problem-solving sessions.

Feedback from P1 parental questionnaires (March 2016) indicated that parents would like some more information as to what type of activities their children participated in during shared lessons. In light of this feedback there will be a Shared Education page on the school website.

The children in our school Council met up on one occasion in the 2015-2016 year to share ideas, visit each other's school and visit the council chambers in Dungannon. This year our school councils will meet once a term.

We welcome parental involvement in all our Shared Education sessions and hope regular updates in this section prove informative and showcase the excellent efforts and learning of our children.
